Youth Development Program
Typical Special Olympics Programming is for individuals eight years old and older. Don’t worry if your child is younger than eight or if your child is between the ages of 8-12 and is not yet ready for organized play, we have something for you too!

Our Youth Development Program is an adaptive gym experience designed for children with and without intellectual or developmental disabilities. Athletes ages 2 to 12 learn the fundamentals of teamwork, how to follow directions from a coach, and how to engage positively with peers—both neurotypical and neurodivergent. Through inclusive play and structured activities, participants build confidence, social skills, and physical coordination—all while having fun in a safe, welcoming environment.
Youth Development is held one to two Sunday afternoons throughout the year.
Download the Registration Form. Please email a copy of this form to coordinator@gahannaspecialolympics.org. The Youth Development Program athletes may not participate until a copy of this form is received.
